São Paulo Fashion and Art Circuit

Circuito SP de Moda e Arte (São Paulo Fashion and Art Circuit)
Opening time: June 8, 2010, 7 PM. Exhibited from June 9 through July 17.
Place: Galeria Pontes, Rua Minas Gerais, 80 – Higienópolis.

When Danilo Blanco and Fernando Zelman suggested I prepare the 8th edition of Sunday Outfits at Galeria Pontes, it was a pleasant surprise. But our first conversation already showed that “Sunday Outfits in Popular Art” made a lot of sense.
In the works of popular artists, regardless of the technique, what becomes very evident is the great care they dedicate to the clothes of men and women they portray. Even in the absence of coloring, when using clay or wood in natural color, one can see in the resulting texture the great lengths they went to when “clothing” the figures in nice attire.
Other artists in this exhibit do not belong to the universe of popular artists, but were invited to participate on account of a possible dialogue. We believe the selection proposed in this exhibit forms a coherent whole that shows the vigor and modernity of popular art.
Designers of clothes, shoes and jewelry also come here to keep up the tradition of all past editions: “rescuing the poetry of Sunday clothes”, continuing to integrate the two genres of expression: fashion and art.
